“Beta, Kashmir mein jab baraf padti hai toh log kahwa peete hain — yeh unki takat hai thand se ladne ki. Kesar, dalchini, elaichi — sab garam taseer ke hain. Ek cup peeo, andar se garmi aa jayegi!”
Dadima’s tip: Kesar asli daalna — nakli kesar se koi faayda nahi. Asli kesar ko paani mein daalo toh dheere-dheere rang chodhta hai, nakli ek dum se rang deta hai. Aur badam zaroor daalna — yeh winter mein brain ke liye bhi acha hai.

How to make it
Preparation
- Boil 2 cups water with cinnamon stick and crushed cardamom for 3 minutes
- Add green tea leaves, reduce heat, simmer 2 minutes
- Add saffron strands
- Strain into cups
- Garnish with slivered almonds
- Add honey after it cools slightly (optional)
Works best for
Dosage
1-2 cups daily during winter months, ideally morning and evening
When not to use
People sensitive to caffeine should not drink in evening. Excessive saffron (>5g) can be toxic — 2-3 strands per cup is perfectly safe.
